Chilling out at Nagoya Castle

I spent the day with a wicked hangover. Senor and I wandered over to Nagoya Castle to take some pictures and see the Golden Fish. Ate some great sushi for dinner then headed over to Club Quattro. I saw Kimi and Aki from Osaka out front of the venue (downstairs on the street), which was on the 8th floor of a department store. I met them in Tokyo. Kimi was excited because she just met the paino player, Page. He signed an autograph and took a picture. The venue was tiny, smaller than the Wetlands in NYC. Maybe 300 people max were at that show? They gave you a drink ticket when you entered. The sound was pretty good for a sweat box. The boys were bunched together on stage... and did I really witness one of the best Phish shows ever? Quite possibly. It was one of the best shows on the Japan tour... and one of the greatest shows I have ever exprienced. Mike's Song was sizzling. The second set Wolfman's Brother will go down as the best version I ever heard. Good Times, Bad Times encore? Insane. The place was so crowded and hot that Senor almost passed out.

The Osaka crew at setbreak in Club Quattro

As the amazed crowd exited the venue, it started to rain fairly heavily. Exhausted, drenched in sweat, and dehydrated, we slowly walked back and stopped at a vending machine to buy a beer. The cool rain was soothing for us. I saw one of the greatest concerts of my life and Senor and I wandered back in a befuddled silence, not speaking, just sipping our beers, and soaking in the entrie Japan vibe. The nightime Nagoya rain is something that I will always remember as one of the most calming feelings in my life.

Mmmmm.... beer!

Three Phish shows down... three more to go. Next stop... Fukuoka.
