Mike Gordon sits in with the DEAD!

It's true... Mike from Phish came out and played with Phil Lesh for a bass duo at the show on Friday! Steve Winwood opened both nights.

The Dead Setlists

June 20, 2003, SPAC - Saratoga Springs, NY

Encore: We Bid You Goodnight

Highlights: Steve Winwood opened he played 40,000 Headmen and Can't Find My Way Home. First set of the Dead picked up when Winwood joined the band on guitar for a kick ass Dear Mr. Fantasy. Joan Osbounre sounded great on Mr. Charlie (especially after I was ready to kick her out of the band the day before...). The Lovelight jam was the highlight of Set 1. For Set 2, China Cat Sunflower was sweet and the Japhans went nuts when Mike Gordon appeared after drums for a bass duo with Phil Lesh. The rest of the set was stellar... Eyes, He's Gone and Sugar Magnolia were some of the best I heard in a long time.

Notes: It was raining all week (all month!) and on the ride up I told Kohei, Iku, and Menjo to pray to Jerry and ask for "no rain" for the show. I think it worked! We had a dry show!
