A Worthy Cause: New York Cares Book Club

Fellow NYC blogger Sarah from Smoke and Ashes is doing a wonderful thing. Here's what she wrote on her blog in an entry called Need Some Help Please:
Start the New Year off by doing something that will make you feel all warm and fuzzy.

As part of a New York Cares volunteer project, my friends Erika, Julia and I are running a book club for women in transitional shelters. We meet once a week to discuss a variety of books nominated by the women themselves and selected by Erika, our fearless leader.

One small hitch -- we need to get the books donated, and so I bring you The New York Cares' Book Club at Icahn House East's Wish List. Many of the books are available used for as little as a couple bucks. Do us a favor and buy one, will ya?

The project is helping to promote literacy and critical thinking amongst a group of at-risk women, so whatever you can do to help is much appreciated.

Thanks!

Oh, and if you're a fellow blogger and want to post the link and help us out, that would be great too.

(Shipping Update: It's easiest if you log in as a new user. that way, the NY Cares Shipping Address will pop up as the default shipping option during check out. If that doesn't work, drop me an email at sarah.mcauley [at] gmail [dot] com and I'll email you the right shipping address. Thanks.)
Great idea, Sarah. I encourage everyone to get involved and help promote literacy. Visit Sarah's blog or the links above to find out how you can help donate books.
